Riba of Margaret Lane in Thiells asked the board about the proposed
development of town-owned Letchworth Village land, saying she was
concerned about the size and scope of the development, and especially
about the impact on the environment from hundreds of units of housing
and commercial entities.

Phillips told her the
development was zoned for low-density residences for the semi-retired
and retired in order to minimize the impact on area traffic and the
school district. He also said the town was committed to developing the
land in an environmentally responsible way, and would try to preserve
open space and the mature trees on the land. |
